Drivers

What Does Being a Driver for JWV Mean?

Transportation plays a crucial role in our operation running smoothly each day. We employ both internal and contracted drivers to haul pigs to, from, and between our nursery and finishing sites. We also employ feed and ingredient drivers who work within our Feed Production sector to deliver ingredients to our mill and haul complete feed to JWV sites.

A Driver’s Role

We stand by the belief that our drivers need to be properly trained, have the right experience, and possess qualities and values similar to our own in order for them to be a good fit at JWV.

All of our drivers must follow biosecurity protocols, possess a good driving record, pass a DOT physical, have a CDL, and be reliable and punctual. We also make sure our drivers go through the Transport Quality Assurance® (TQA®) certification. The well-being and quality of our pigs can be affected by anyone who comes in contact with them. Requiring this certification ensures our drivers understand how to handle and move livestock properly.

How We Help Our Drivers

We aim to make the transportation process easy and smooth for both our livestock and our drivers. We do this by providing a schedule to our drivers so they always know the date, time, and location of their loads. We want to make sure our drivers have a positive work-life balance, ensuring our drivers will always be able to enjoy time with their family.

Our contract drivers are required to supply their own tractor, but JWV will provide a livestock trailer. Internal drivers will operate JWV semi-tractors and trailers.
